Some things should be seen, touched and tested
There are ideas that become clearer when they leave the page.
A circuit is different when it is connected. A physical principle is different when it can be observed. A chemical process is different when something actually happens in front of you. A biological structure is different when it can be examined.
The laboratory is therefore not separate from the classroom. It is an extension of the classroom — another place where learning happens.

The experiment is not the end. What matters is what the observation does to the student's understanding — whether the idea becomes something the student can explain, predict or apply elsewhere.
When technology helps
Some ideas are better understood through physical experiment. Others become clearer through computation, simulation or building something — a program, a model, a circuit. The tool changes. The habit of thinking does not.
